When Audi decided that they are going to release the new 2018 Audi S4 sedan, there have been talking and rumors about it. After all, the S4 sedan has been a part of Audi’s busy production plan. When they created the RS4 and the A4 line, they decided that they are going to have a slot in between them – and they came with the S4 to fill the slot. And now Audi has decided that they are going to build the S4 with basic platform from the A4. As the result, the new S4 sedan will come with a refreshing look and a better grip and handle for the auto industry.
2018 Audi S4 Sedan Engine and Transmission
If we are going to talk about a powerful and attractive ride, what is more appealing than the power and handle? Audi understands this well; that’s why they are coming with all the right feature and aspect. For this upcoming 2018 Audi S4 sedan, the ride will be coming with V6 turbocharged 3.0 liter engine (code name EA839) that is still related to the V8 4.0 liter engine used by the Porsche Panamera. So you have the idea of the overall power and usage, right? This new engine will be coming with BorgWarner turbocharger twin-scroll system that allows it to produce 354 hp of power. The previous S4 has V6 supercharged 3.0 liter. When you compare it, there is a significant 21 more hp.
Aside from the engine, the new 2018 Audi S4 sedan will also be coming with ZF automatic 8 speed transmission, replacing the DSG automatic dual clutch 7 speed transmission. Unfortunately, the standard manual 6 speed transmission won’t be available anymore, according to Audi, considering the fact that most customers prefer the auto system than the manual. It seems to be contradictory to the fact that most people prefer manual over auto system. But then again, Audi reassures that the auto transmission won’t affect the overall control and handle. In fact, driving the S4 will be just simple and convenient – if not fun and powerful.
2018 Audi S4 Sedan Driving Performance
The current S4 is able to reach 60 mph within 4.7 seconds. A lot of auto fans expect the new 2018 Audi S4 sedan to be able to reach 60 mph in half of the current time. So far, top speed is recorded at 155 mph. Everyone believes that the S4 should be able to handle the task easily but you should also consider the throttle response as well as vibrations (which is quite hard) for the super quick acceleration.
However, Audi says that it is just a minor problem that they will address soon enough. After all, they are offering different driving system such as the Auto, Dynamic, and Comfort. And if you are able to choose the different driving mode, you can actually reduce the vibration and the noise that is happening inside the cabin.
