A lot of people are skeptical about the new 2018 Audi RS 5 especially with the company planning on reducing the sound and the power. Because the company has decided that they are going to change the size of the ride, a lot of auto enthusiasts are afraid that it will affect the overall performance and comfort. But it seems that the worry too much because from the spy shot images and videos of the car in Nurburgring, it appears that there hasn’t been a lot of changes happening to the ride – and it is a good thing.
2018 Audi RS 5 Engine
When Audi decides that they are going to use the V6 engine for the Quattro system, rumors and talks start to spread. But Audi has nothing to worry about because the 2.9-liter engine is being developed with Porsche and it should be a good sign. After all, the RS2 was drawn up with Porsche engine, and it was proven to be a good result. If you want to see how good this V6 engine, you can check its performance for the Panamera 4S 2017. A lot of people say that this ride is pretty impressive and responsive, but you will certainly miss the signature growl produced by the regular RS5.
Although the downsizing feature will affect the growl and also power – after all, the previous V8 4.2 liter engine is down to a twin-turbo V6 – and Audi admits that the new 2018 Audi RS5 will have to sacrifice some of its horsepowers. However, fuel consumption will be better along with the 50% improvement of the torque ability. Not bad, after all, eh?
2018 Audi RS 5 Design
A lot of people suspect that this new RS5 may look like the RS4 sedan although it is still unclear. But there will be a slight decrease in the weight, after all. The new RS5 will be lighter (although not as light as the Beemer M4) and stiffer, but it will also include a more complex arrangement of exhaust gas recirculating system and intercooler for the powertrain. Audi promises that this model will be faster than the M4 although in the straight line. It is expected that the car can reach 62 mph within 3.7 seconds.
Production for this 2018 model should start from 2017 with the coupe first. Later on, Audi will introduce the five-door style (only for the American auto market) and the convertible for this 2018 Audi RS5 types.
